A native of Bucharest, Romania, Petru Voichescu holds a degree in Architecture. He has worked in Romania as an architect and stage designer. Established in Canada since 1979, he pursues a career in the fields of art, interior design and exhibition design.

He has many years of experience teaching courses, such as visual presentation, interior design, drawing and stage design (University of Quebec in Montreal, Ottawa University, Algonquin College of Ottawa, La Cité Collégiale of Ottawa, Compétences 2000 of Laval).

His focus in education is a constant quest for means of developing creativity.

As a stage designer, Petru Voichescu's work includes theatrical productions in Romania and in Canada. In the field of exhibition design, he has carried out different projects in France and Canada, particularly throughout Quebec and Prince Edward Island. Through his design components and exhibition design, he proposes the setting up of meaningful spaces of knowledge that encourage the emotional experience for the visitor.

Impassioned by Arts, he continues to research and to explore different artistic mediums such as drawing, etching, painting and collage.

His main focus presently is on printmaking.

His artistic approach is best summarized by an exploration of the sensitivity and ability to react of artistic surfaces, which he believes are not neutral. Their inherent nature will permeate through all media, with gesture, feeling, desire and emotion that accumulate and intermingle.

His quest for style, through the poetic dimension of space and the interaction between form and material, result in works full of intensity, expressiveness and sensitivity.

The works of Petru Voichescu have been included in many art exhibitions and are found in private collections in Canada, USA, Mexico, Switzerland and France.
